IFLA Professional Reports
The IFLA Professional Report series promotes high standards of library and information services and advances knowledge within the profession. Professional Reports are relevant to IFLA’s global audience and seek to drive forward excellence in library and information services. The scope of the series includes, but is not limited to:
- Existing IFLA standards and guidelines implementation guidance or case studies;
- Emerging trends or policy in areas of professional practice;
- Implications and impact of IFLA Committee projects.
Professional reports are Open Access publications, licensed as Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). Professional reports are endorsed by the IFLA Professional Council prior to their publication.
Submitting a proposal for a new professional report
IFLA welcomes proposals for new Professional Reports. Authors should consider the following criteria when proposing a report:
- Originality of subject matter;
- Relevance to practitioners in library and information services;
- Relevance to IFLA as an organisation, standards, guidance and policy;
- Connection to related organisations or sectors outside of the library and information profession;
- Relevance to a global audience.
Proposals will be reviewed by the relevant IFLA Unit (Section, SIG, or Advisory Committee) and require the support of an IFLA Section and the Section’s Division Committee Chair before submission to the Professional Council for approval.
To submit a Professional Report proposal, download the report proposal form, complete and return it to the Professional Support Officer with any attachments at professionalsupport@ifla.org.
The process for the proposal and development of IFLA Standards and Guidelines is overseen by the IFLA Advisory Committee on Standards. Please see the Standards and Guidelines page for additional information.
