As a core part of our 2019-2024 Strategy, we actively promote opportunities to gain skills and develop capacity, at both individual and national levels.

Professional development

Our Professional Units, made up of enthusiastic and experienced volunteers, have a mission to develop and share their expertise with the wider field.

Through webinars, guidance and other tools, they work to enhance professional practice, and encourage and support professional growth.

Capacity building

Building on a strong record, IFLA works to create and strengthen libraries and library associations, helping them to engage their communities, support the field effectively, and advocate successfully.

As part of our Strategy, IFLA creates tools, resources and programmes and provides them to the field.
