IFLA Global Vision: discover the results of IFLA’s ground-breaking conversation about the future of the global library field.

IFLA’s Global Vision discussion was launched in early 2017. More than 30,000 librarians and library friends from all regions of the world explored the situation of libraries, and how a united global library field could meet the challenges of the future.

Across two phases, these tens of thousands of professionals contributed their time, energy and ideas to help build a common understanding, to identify opportunities, and to share ideas for actions. Beyond the results in terms of reports, the process also generated a new momentum and sense of belonging across the field.

Through this work, participants in the Global Vision discussion contributed to fulfilling the potential of libraries to build literate, informed and participative societies. Their work also provided the guiding light for the IFLA Strategy 2019-2024.
