Nominations
IFLA’s Honours and Awards offer a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge a colleague whose efforts you admire and respect. You can speak confidentially with others to initiate and support a nomination.
All authorised representatives of Members and Personal Affiliates are eligible to make nominations for Honorary Fellow and the IFLA Medal, and along with members of Section Standing Committees may make nominations for the Scroll of Appreciation.
Nominees for these awards should not be told that they are being nominated. Other awards, such as Professional Awards involve self-nomination, and so there is no need for secrecy.
Nomination for Honorary Fellow
A nomination for Honorary Fellow needs to be supported by at least four nominators who are (or who represent) current IFLA Members or Personal Affiliates, from different countries.
Nominations must include evidence to support any claims against the criteria, and must also be accompanied by at least three written referee reports. Referees should be different people to the nominators, and at least one referee should be (or should represent) an IFLA Member or Personal Affiliate. Referees should address the nominee’s suitability for the award, in relation to the criteria and may provide further information relevant to the award if desired.
In making its decision, the Honours and Awards Panel of the Governing Board will examine only the evidence provided by the nominators and the three referee reports submitted with the nomination. The evidence and referee reports provided should be based on the following required criteria:
- Exemplary personal and professional contribution to IFLA
