Employers and Employees: Key Players in Continuing Professional Development – Webinar Slides and Video Available

The IFLA CPDWL Section hosted a very enlightening webinar on January 24, 2024, from 8:00 to 9:00 pm HKT/13:00-14:00 CET (Amsterdam). This webinar is a part of our ongoing series focusing on fostering best practices in support of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) within the professional community.
Webinar Overview:
The IFLA CPDWL Section is dedicated to championing the cause of professional growth and learning. Through this webinar, we aimed to highlight the pivotal role that both employers and employees play in CPD. We explored the crucial need for allocating resources to professional exchange and discussed strategies to maximize the benefits of CPD initiatives. We were privileged to feature esteemed advisors from the IFLA CPDWL, as our speakers, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the discussion.
Meet Our Speakers:
Catharina Isberg is a Library Director at Lund Public Libraries. Sweden. She is a graduate in Library and Information Science from the University of Borås and the University of Lund. She has been working within the public library field for 10 years and also has a past in both university libraries and a pharmaceutical industry library. Her main focus is on management, development/innovation of the library services as well as creating inclusive, healthy and resilient workplaces. Catharina is active on both the national and international arena in for example the Swedish Library Association Board and since 2011 in IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) in different sections, division chair (2019-2021, Governing Board (2019-2021 and from 2023 as a member of the Europe Regional Division.
Gillian Hallam has enjoyed a rich and varied career as an LIS practitioner, educator and researcher. She was an information manager in the Australian business and legal sectors before moving into the academic world, working with major universities in Australia, Germany and Thailand. Gill is a freelance consultant undertaking applied research projects that sit at the confluence of libraries and professional learning. Her contribution to LIS has been recognised internationally as a Fellow of ALIA, SLA’s Information Professional of the Year (Australia and New Zealand, Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK) and recipient of IFLA Scroll of Appreciation.
