Action at a local level has a key role to play in building an environment where reading and creativity is encouraged and supported, for all. The UNESCO World Book Capital Programme is there to highlight and celebrate great examples of cities and towns doing just this. Could yours be the next one? Nominations are open until 16 April 2023.
Applications for this year´s public library of the Year Award will open on 21 February.
The "Public Library of the Year" award is presented by IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) with the aim of honouring new public libraries. Systematic is the proud main sponsor of the award.

The 12th edition of the contest “A corto di libri. Short of books: short films tell about libraries” is finally open! Deadline: 26 April 2022.
The MetLib conference is an annual gathering of members of IFLA’s Standing Committee on Metropolitan Libraries. MetLib 2021 was hosted by the Regina Public Library in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada from 25 to 26 May 2021.

On May 10, the participants of the Conference watched a selection of videos submitted to the contest A Corto di Libri and voted for the following one as winner of the 2019 IFLA Metropolitan Short Film Award
During the IFLA World Library and Information Congress, on 27 August, the selection of videos for the IFLA Metropolitan Libraries Short Film Award 2018 were projected at the Expo Pavilion / Tech Lab, in front of about 40 people.
