The IFLA Asia Oceania Regional Division Committee participated at the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, which was organised by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and took place in a hybrid mode - physically in Bangkok, Thailand from 28-31 March. The IFLA AO RDC sent a representation committee to physically attend the Forum, while also organised the webinar “Informed societies at the foundation of a better post-COVID world” as one of the Forum’s side events.

The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) International Relations Advisory Committee (IRAC) has published 10 stretch targets for the library and information sector in Australia, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Through the generous support of William and Judith Bollinger, over a two-year period from 2013 to 2015, the British Library was able to digitise its complete collection of Malay manuscripts in a collaborative project with the National Library Board of Singapore.

This year, the New Zealand Law Librarians Association conference went digital. In a time of uncertainty and cancelled events, the conference committee at the outset decided on hosting a virtual conference.

Our region of Asia-Oceania has a stronger mandate and a new Committee. The Pacific (North and South) is more strongly represented than before. The Regional Council and all the Regional Division Committees are actively preparing their Action Plans which will fit in with IFLA’s overall Action Plan. You will hear more from us in the coming months and years!
