In order to prepare a response from the global library field, IFLA today launches a survey in order to bring together the insights, ideas and priorities. Deadline: 31 August.
From 26 to 30 June, mayors, UN agencies, local officials, NGOs and experts met at the 11th World Urban Forum, to discuss how to transform cities and so deliver sustainable development. IFLA was present in order to underline the place of libraries and information in making this happen.

In the first weeks of 2022, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights gathered inputs and contributions for an upcoming study on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on young people’s fundamental rights. An input prepared by the IFLA Section on Library Services for Children and Young Adults and HQ draws on library experiences to highlight some key challenges and measures taken to deliver on the rights of young users.

On 28 April, IFLA led a virtual session at the 2022 WSIS Forum, exploring innovative approaches to shared and public access for digital inclusion. Drawing on the experiences of public and community libraries, the workshop highlighted good practices and ways to maximise the impacts and reach of these services.
In its role as a member of the World Book Capital (WBC) Advisory Committee, IFLA was invited to participate in a meeting of the WBC Network, held in Tbilisi, Georgia. The meeting provided an opportunity to shape core documentation, and highlight the need for future activities to include libraries and library goals, as well as to meet with IFLA Members locally.

Libraries bring valuable solutions, practices and lessons learned to this discussion – and the Dynamic Coalition on Public Access in Libraries (DC-PAL) continues to facilitate this learning and exchange within the Internet Governance Forum platforms.
