IFLA WLIC 2021

After three intensive days of sharing and learning, our 86th World Library and Information Congress – and first ever virtual one – came to an end, with the last of over 160 sessions packed with knowledge, insights and exchange.

We learned a lot during those three days, not just about the latest developments and perspectives within our profession, but also about how to deliver the unique buzz of a World Library and Information Congress online. We have seen and corrected mistakes, overcome technical challenges, and come out, I believe, stronger, better connected, and better able to serve our field into the future.

It is therefore a time to celebrate the success of our Congress, of the great results of all the work put in by our volunteers, sponsors, partners, Governing Board and headquarters team.

And connected to this, it is also time to offer thanks to all those who contributed to creating sessions, to supporting participation, and to making our time together so dynamic and exciting. I wanted to offer particular thanks to Christine Mackenzie, IFLA’s President 2019-21, for her leadership and support of our Federation over the two years, including of course the preparation of our Congress.

Thank you to you all. I look forward to seeing you in Dublin, and in the meanwhile, I wish you success in putting into practice all that you have learned at our Congress, defining and delivering actions that make for a stronger and more united global library field!

We are IFLA!
