educativa, el proyecto propone realizar actividades relacionadas con el entorno de las políticas medioambientales que
sustentan a la BCN como Biblioteca verde. Los alumnos de las escuelas que participan podrán experimentar y trabajar
con aquellos dispositivos, elementos y proyectos que determinan mejoras y bajos impactos en el medioambiente de las
actividades que realiza la Biblioteca.
El propósito del proyecto es generar en los alumnos una conciencia medioambiental que sea diseminadora de
acciones tendientes a la protección del medioambiente en la comunidad. De esta manera se solicitará a los alumnos
que desarrollen proyectos plausibles, aplicables a sus escuelas y a los distintos espacios sociales por los que circulan
como clubes sociales, espacios deportivos, culturales y asistenciales, sociedades de fomento y ONG.

UDIS as a smart champion for information services https://www.ifla.org/ru/resources/resource-placeholder-2973/ Mon, 30 Oct 2023 00:00:01 +0000 https://www.ifla.org/?post_type=resources&p=229484 UDIS (University Department of Information Science) is an artificial robot developed by academics in the Department of Information Science (DIS). This robot provides information services to students, academics, and any other information seekers especially the services offered by the Department of Information Science at the University of South Africa (Unisa). Unisa is a comprehensive open distance e-learning (CODeL) university that accommodates more than 400 000 thousand students. This is an online university there is no physical interaction between the academics and students. The DIS is one of the biggest library schools in the country which enroll many students. Academics turn to spend a lot of time responding to students’ queries sent via emails and in learning management systems and that reduces tuition time. This development was informed by the expert system and artificial intelligence model which entails four components: non-expert users (students); user interface; rules engine; knowledge-based; and knowledge from experts (academics). This enabled academics to design the system that entailed the most relevant answers related to the DIS offerings, administration, registration, tuition, research, and many more. Centralised information has a great potential to enhance collaboration and open access for Library and Information Science schools.

This idea was held during the school holiday. It is our initiative to make sure the time is filled with fun and new experiences. The goal is to ensure that our children are capable of thinking positively and being excellent. We ensure that our participants are aware of the importance of praying, performing Ibadah and to develop discipline among them. We also train participants to communicate effectively and becoming charismatic leaders. By setting up 20 sleeping tents, we offer a night of fun and memorable adventure. It lightens up their mood since no pandemic can stop them to participate in this program.
A schedule of activities was put together covering a wide range of topics from morning to night, such as ice breaking, treasures hunt, brisk walks, group training, theory and practical training. There were 57 participants, including children and teenagers aged 8 to 17 years.
Participants can increase their prayer knowledge, meet new friends and have valuable experiences. This is done to share the blessings and bring happiness within the community by making library relevant

agendas of Governments and Institutions with purpose of foster implement said
movement. To open science collaboration of various actors is relevant, therefore it is
raised libraries are actors that develop many ways to access information; and open
science is an action that promotes free circulation of data and results derived from
scientific activity; then it can be raised that in said relationship is linked by common
objectives, due to both the actor and the action contribute to satisfy information
needs. Aim of this poster is shows the study about relationship between open
science and academic and research libraries in Latin America. Study is carried out
with a mixed investigation methodology, in which factors of open science are
analyzed and to verify assumptions made an exploratory study is carried out with
defined variables on actions of opening science that academic libraries from Latin
America based on consulting Web portals of library entities and specialized data
sources. Findings obtained about raised link between open science with academic
libraries are proved with a proposal model about how functions libraries are
compatible and useful to openness of science. A general conclusion is that academic
libraries from Latin America are laboratories that contributes to paradigm shift that
scholarly communication system requires.

Analyzing the Operation of Korean School Libraries based on Staffing https://www.ifla.org/ru/resources/resource-placeholder-2966/ Wed, 25 Oct 2023 00:00:01 +0000 https://www.ifla.org/?post_type=resources&p=229464 Korea has a legal mandate all schools must assign school librarians. The ‘School Library Promotion Act’ was amended to mandatorily assign one teacher librarian or librarian, or practical teacher to each school. However, the staffing rate of school librarian in Korean middle and high school libraries is only 45.6%. The workforce arrangement and Library service situation in Korea is not homogeneous. Library resources are also poor in Provincial, rural areas with a small number of children and adolescents. As for children and youth services in poor environments, it is urgent to come up with measures to expand the service without considering the cost-effectiveness. Proving the service performance of libraries, which are public goods, is inevitably slow, but it is not socially controversial that utmost efforts are needed to protect children and adolescents from the negative influence of social gaps. The manpower stipulated in the ‘School Library Promotion Act’ should be deployed as soon as possible even in relatively poor areas to bridge the educational gap between regions. I believe Every Librarian brings the Giants who enable us to see the invisible and reach the unreachable. Every Library with powerful librarian finally further strengthens the power to dream.

Taking the temperature of chat reference: An analysis of user complaints in the time of COVID-19 https://www.ifla.org/ru/resources/resource-placeholder-2967/ Wed, 25 Oct 2023 00:00:01 +0000 https://www.ifla.org/?post_type=resources&p=229465 This poster will explore user complaints over the chat reference service offered by a large university consortium both before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, chat reference services experienced a surge in demand but research is only beginning to explore how the crisis affected the topic of chats, the nature of discourse, and the experience of chat providers. To date, no research has been performed to investigate the underlying reasons for negative user sentiment and behaviours over chat. The research presented in our poster aims to fill this gap by analyzing user complaints within chat transcripts. What are typical user complaints? Did complaints increase during the pandemic? What have users been complaining about, and did the complaints vary by user type? Our research aims to address these questions and aims to understand how times of crisis affect reference services and front-line reference staff. The research presented focuses on how complaints highlight user needs and preferences with respect to library services and the challenges that users face with online teaching and learning. It will also address strategies to respond to complaints over chat and an understanding of how chat reference transcripts can be used to assess changing user needs.
