Calling all Libraries and Library Associations: How do you power climate communication and education?
14 July 2023
Climate communication and education are important aspects of Action for Climate Empowerment. Building climate literacy and helping others understand the climate crisis can help all members of society become more resilient and feel empowered to take action where they can.
Partnering with the Monitoring and Evaluating Climate Communication and Education (MECCE) Project, we are launching an initiative to help measure how libraries are making an impact on a global scale.
We need your input to make it happen!
Take the Survey
For the first phase of this project, we invite libraries and library associations to share their experience with climate action, communication, and education in a survey.
- Are you participating from the perspective of a library? Take the Library Survey here.
- Are you participating from the perspective of a library association? Take the Association Survey here.
This survey looks to gauge the extent to which your library or library association provides opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about climate change, biodiversity and environmental sustainability.
The collected survey data will provide a basis for creating one or more climate communication and education (CCE) indicators at the country level related to the greening of libraries and library associations.
As a measure of non-formal climate education, this project will supplement existing indicators that focus on formal education. It is an important opportunity to bring libraries to the global stage as climate empowerment champions!
Get Involved!
The surveys are currently available in English, French, Spanish, Chinese, and Arabic. We invite you to respond as soon as possible, and to share broadly in your network.
