COP28 Session: Culture for Transformation – the culture sector’s role in greening communities
As a member of Climate Heritage Network and the UNESCO Greening Education Partnership, IFLA is once again helping to bring a culture perspective to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), to be held in Dubai, UAE.
We are excited to feature colleagues from the library and museum fields, as well as from Climate Heritage Network and the Permanent Delegation of the UAE to UNESCO.
Instructions: Attending in Person
The Greening Education Hub is just past the entrance to the COP28 Green Zone located in Section B3 between buildings 23-26. If coming from outside directly to the Green Zone, please enter through the Mobility Gate.
About the Session
Culture, expressed through traditional knowledge, creativity, cultural heritage, and the arts, can empower people to imagine and realise climate resilient futures. A cultural element is required to enable rapid and radical transformation that reaches all members of society.
Speakers representing a variety of perspectives will share their insight into greening communities. The roundtable will engage in a discussion around two key questions: (1) what support is needed, and from whom, to successfully implement culture-based greening community strategies?, and (2) how can we more systematically monitor, evaluate and communicate success?
The session will offer diverse ideas to take forward within the context of the Ministry of Eduction of the UAE and UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership’s greening communities pillar.
IFLA thanks partners at the International Council of Museums (ICOM) for their support in delivering this session.
