IFLA’s Local History and Genealogy Section, in collaboration with KU Leuven Libraries, is pleased to invite you to take part in our free satellite meeting “Innovative approaches in engaging people with local history and genealogy” on 17-18 August in Leuven, Belgium.

As an element and vector of identity and reinforcing a sense of belonging, local history is a valuable factor for empowering local communities and enabling vulnerable groups to participate fully in social and cultural life. Local history and genealogy collections are also valuable resources for teaching and learning in innovative ways and engaging youth with local history and heritage. Storytelling the local history in an impactful way also proves to be essential in engaging diverse categories of people and communities.

In line with key topics of the the WLIC 2023 like digital knowledge and innovation, development of digital skills, and free access to culture, the satellite meeting highlights various ways in which people can engage with local history and genealogy materials.

On-site registration is limited, so we are also going to broadcast this meeting via Zoom.
