The IFLA Library History Special Interest Group and the Library Services to Multicultural Populations Section, invited proposals for papers to be presented at their joint Session No. 192 on “Libraries and Immigrants: Historical Perspectives”, jointly organized by the IFLA Library History Special Interest Group and the IFLA Library Services to Multicultural Populations Section, in co-operation with the American Library Association Library History Round Table, during the IFLA World Library and Information Congress in Columbus, Ohio, USA, scheduled on 17th August 2016, from 13.45 to 15.45 p.m.. The session will be chaired by Dr Kerry Smith. The Session now announces a list of selected papers/ presentations to be presented by four speakers:

  • Sharon McQueen | "May Massee and the Buffalo Public Library: Service to Immigrant Children, 1906-1912"
  • Irene Munster | "Spreading the roots: Origin of Jewish libraries in Argentina"
  • Ray Pun | "Recalling an Arab American Dream: The Story and Legacy of Ameen Rihani’s novel The Book of Khalid and The New York Public Library"
  • Dr Suzanne Stauffer | "From Saigon to Baton Rouge :  East Baton Rouge Parish Library and Vietnamese Refugees, 1975-1985"

The formal notification from IFLA for the programme at the 2016 conference has just come out.
