The Knowledge 21 Programme, of which IFLA is a a partner organisation, has launched a call for bids for funding to carry out work to promote copyright reform in Europe. Deadline: 30 September.

The aim is to enable activities that would otherwise not be possible, and that contribute to changing laws and policies in the areas covered by the Programme. We’re encouraging inventiveness and imagination in your applications, but they could include commissioning research, holding events, or carrying out communications work.

The Programme focuses on the following areas: ensuring a better deal for libraries on eLending, addressing contractual override of copyright exceptions plus digital locks, and promoting more open norms, legislated secondary publishing rights, and rights retention.

Bids are welcome from library associations or anyone else who can demonstrate an ability to deliver in one or more European countries, with projected awards of up to 15 000 EUR.
